Q: I want to email or call a friend, but he/she doesn't have an email address or phone number listed in the directory. Why is that?
A: If there is no email or phone information listed, then the person has either (1) opted not to have that information public, or (2) is not a member of the community yet and hasn't allowed it to be viewable. To check their status, go to his/her Profile and see whether or not there is a 'Yes' next to "Online Community Member."
Q: Why do some links open in the same browser window, and others open a new window?
A: Most links that go within the online community (as in those posted by the OC team) open in the same window, and any links to an external site (as in those posted by the OC team, such as the main Houghton.edu site, press released, etc) open in a new window. This occurs so that you can remain within the community and not have to be switching back and forth.
Q: What is the "Connect with Others" tab on My Profile?
A: This tab is for you to put in your Facebook, blog, or LinkedIn information so that you can connect with others on those social networking sites as well. To allow these to be seen on your profile, make them public information.
